watershed zine (i’ll make a tumblr for it too so those who can’t get their hands on a physical copy can read all about it) is a zine for musicians’ stories about the first time we heard bands/records that marked a turning point in our own growth as listeners to, lovers of and writers of songs.

any band, any record. doesn’t matter.

please submit and/or boost! deadline for issue #1 is may 31st, 2013.

Frozen Banana Bites
2 large bananas 1/4 to 1/3 cup vegan chocolate chips 1/4 to 1/3 cup natural peanut butter Unsweetened coconut flakes
Set out a large plate or bowl with a piece of parchment or wax paper on it. Cut up the bananas into good-sized chunks. Each banana should give you around 5 to 6 pieces. Heat the peanut butter and chocolate chips in the microwave on high for about a minute. Then stir until smooth. Dip the banana pieces in the chocolate-peanut butter mixture. Lay them out leaving some space between them on the parchment/wax paper. Then when you’ve “covered” them all, use the remaining mixture to spoon over the tops (for even more chocolate-y goodness). Then sprinkle the unsweetened coconut flakes on top. Transfer to the freezer for about an hour until hardened (or over night).

My friend C’ne (Check out her tumblr here) just sent this picture to me via text message and I really wanted to share it with you. This was spotted at Flying Saucer in Humboldt Park.

This is awesome. (None of it’s vegan. But it’s the most awesome non-veg brunch menu possible. And Flying Saucer does have a vegan menu…it’s just not hilarious.)

Vegan Miss Ian's Pizza

Ian’s Pizza carries many vegan pizza options here in Chicago. Vegan Miss went there to order a pie with Upton’s Naturals Italian-style seitan, Chicago Soydairy mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, onions, and artichoke hearts. This place will have you coming back for more!

[Yum. Just yum. That is all. Carry on. IF YOU CAN. - ed.]

Ian’s makes some delicious pies! They also offer vegan pizza by the slice, although only on Thursdays. Last time I went, there were three vegan by-the-slice options: veggie, meaty, and LASAGNA. I got the lasagna, obviously. It was excellent. Go buy a slice, and tell them to start offering vegan pizza by the slice all week!
